NodeCE

Infrastructure

We run NodeCE for you at Hetzner in Finland, or you run it yourselves.

When we run NodeCE

NodeCE runs on our servers at Hetzner in Helsinki, Finland. Files and backups are stored there as well. We are subject to Swedish law and Hetzner Online GmbH to German law. The data centre in Finland is operated by Hetzner Finland Oy, which is subject to Finnish law. Email and error reports from the desktop app are stored with Resend in the USA and are subject to US law, and the protection at the bottom of this page does not cover them.

Several customers share the servers, and each organisation only sees its own data. The database is backed up, and copies are kept for no more than 30 days.

Self-hosting

You can also run NodeCE on your own server, in your network or with a provider you choose.

Do not send security-classified information to us, for example in error reports.

Export

The export is a zip file, split into parts of no more than 4 GB. In the cloud service, the organisation’s owner exports the data under the organisation settings in NodeCE. With self-hosting, you export using the command nodece export on the server. What the export contains and how you change provider is described in section 9 of the Terms of Service.

Protection against access from other countries

  • When we run NodeCE, data is stored within the EU, except email and error reports, which Resend stores in the USA.
  • Traffic between the browser or app and NodeCE is encrypted. Server disks, the database and database backups are encrypted when stored.
  • We only disclose data to an authority when EU law or Swedish law requires it.
  • If we receive a request from an authority outside the EU, we assess it against EU law and inform you before we respond, except when the request concerns criminal investigation, and then for as long as needed so as not to obstruct it.
